EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Social entrepreneurs tackle major problems, but too much guidance still rests on anecdotes. Better research can show what actually works and why.
Social entrepreneurs have become celebrated members of the humanitarian community. Using creative thinking and sound business principles, they are tackling vexing social problems such as poverty, global warming and unequal access to education. But universities and business schools need to do more rigorous research on which strategies really make a difference.
